The period for submitting applications for prior accreditation of New Study programmes to the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) ran from 1 February to 17 March 2025.
Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) submitted 305 requests for prior accreditation of New Study programmes (NCE/25), of which 89 Bachelor’s Degrees, 168 Master’s Degrees and 48 Doctorates. Around 48% of the NCE requests came from polytechnic higher education institutions and 52% from university institutions.
Of the 48 requests for prior accreditation of doctorates, 67% were submitted by public and private polytechnic higher education institutions.
In 2025, 80 more applications for NCE accreditation were submitted, when compared to 2024 (225 NCE/24), representing an increase of 36% compared to the same period last year.

Applications for prior accreditation of new study programmes (NCE) are submitted between 1 February and 15 March each year. Once the assessment and accreditation process has been finalised, these study programmes can be included in the training offer that each Higher Education Institution will present at the beginning of the following calendar year.
