A3ES has just been recognised by the World Federation for Medical Education for a period of ten years, until 31 March 2035.
The World Federation for Medical Education is an international organisation that promotes the recognition of medical programmes, covering undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional medical education, as well as distance learning.
The application submitted by A3ES was supported from the outset by the main Portuguese medical schools, through the Council of Portuguese Medical Schools (CEMP).
The recognition procedure included an on-site assessment carried out by an international commission that visited our Agency in due course and which accompanied the assessment and accreditation work carried out by A3ES, also covering a study programme in Medicine at one of the Portuguese schools.
A3ES’ recognition by the WFME allows students and graduates of medical courses accredited by A3ES to have their qualifications recognised in various geographical areas outside the European Union, particularly in the United States of America. Movement for external stays of various kinds, including internships and professional placements, are thus facilitated by the recognition of the level of the respective training.
