Advisory Council

The Advisory Council is an advisory body in matters of higher education quality assurance and offers advice supporting the decisions of the Management Board

The Advisory Council must formulate its opinion about the Agency’s annual activity plan and its general strategic orientation.

The Advisory Council is composed by:

  1. Two representatives of the Council of Rectors of Portuguese (public) Universities;
  2. Two representatives of the Portuguese (public)  Polytechnics Coordinating Council;
  3. Two representatives of the Portuguese Association of Private Higher Education Institutions;
  4. Two members to be appointed by the student unions for higher education, one of them representing university higher education and the other representing polytechnic higher education;
  5. One representative of each existing professional association;
  6. One representative of the Council of Associated Laboratories;
  7. One member to be indicated by the most representative entrepreneurial association representing industry;
  8. One member to be indicated by the most representative entrepreneurial association representing commerce and services;
  9. One member to be indicated by the most representative entrepreneurial association representing agriculture;
  10. One member to be indicated by each of the two trade union confederations more representative of the workers;
  11. Representatives of the interested ministries;
  12. Up to five specialists co-opted by the Council itself.
