Scientific Council

The Scientific Council works together with the Management Board and is
responsible for supporting the development of the Agency’s activities through the
following functions:

• Analyze and comment on the Agency’s activity plans (annual or strategic
  nature);
• Analyze and comment on the Activity Reports prepared by the Agency,
  with emphasis on the results of the different assessment processes
  promoted by the Agency;
• Appraise the Agency’s public initiatives (Conferences, Seminars, etc.)
  supported in the documentation prepared for it;
• Prepare comments and suggestions on the Agency’s activities;
• Suggest outlines of analysis, public initiatives, and studies on higher
  education issues, namely on quality assurance;
• Follow and comment on the Agency’s international insertion.

The Scientific Council meets once a year, preferably at the Agency’s office
in Lisbon. The Scientific Council of A3ES is composed of the following members:
